BRIGG has been shortlisted in The Great British High Street awards – and RNS is backing the campaign to see it lift the title.

Partner Karen Lyth, based at our office on Bridge Street, encouraged clients to vote to help the town win a share of an £80,000 prize pot plus training and tips for 100 businesses.

Karen said: “Brigg has been shortlisted with only 20 other towns throughout the whole of the UK and is in the final three in its category.

“That in itself is a tremendous achievement. Now, alongside other businesses and the community, we want to do our bit to see if we can help Brigg to top spot.”

This year’s competition saw a record 230 applicants and, for the first time, the public has the chance to vote for their best-loved high street online.

The public vote will count towards half of the overall marks. Brigg is in the village category, alongside West Kilbride and Twyford.

Brigg will also be inspected by the Future High Street Forum judging panel, made up of industry leaders from across retail, property and business.

Karen has been a member of Brigg’s Town Business Partnership (BTCP) which has worked tirelessly to bring its independent shops back to the forefront of local business.

A not-for-profit organisation, the BTCP slashed its vacancy rates in half, to an impressive 7.2% over the last four years.

With the introduction of a Business Agency, alongside the Business Buddies scheme with 162 current members, Brigg has been able to support local business. A staggering 73% are now independents.

Karen said: “RNS has been on Bridge Street, at the heart of Brigg, for many years. It is a town that should be very proud of its efforts to stimulate enterprise and growth and we’re pleased to play a small part in that.

“I’d encourage everyone to spend a minute to click on the link below and vote for Brigg.”

Voting closes on 13th November.
