Sue Steps Down

Retirement will not be as taxing as a 33-year career for a popular member of RNS.

Retirement will not be as taxing as a 33-year career for a popular member of RNS.

Sue Buss, who has filled out thousands of tax returns in her role at RNS Chartered Accountants, plans to take it easier in the next stage of her life.

The 63-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed her time at the firm’s Scunthorpe office on Oswald Road.

“I would not have spent 33 years here if I’d not enjoyed it,” she said. “They have been very good employers.

“The partners have been very flexible and understanding over the years and they help create a friendly office and a nice atmosphere.

“I will miss the company. There are a lot of young people here coming and going and I’ve always enjoyed catching up with them.

“It’s been a big part of my life and I am a little apprehensive about retirement.”

She will spend more time with her husband of 41 years Stuart, who works locally in vehicle sales, and her wider family.

“Our daughter Marianne lives nearby and has three children between five and 10 so it will be an opportunity to see more of them.

“We also have a son, Christopher, who has two children, though they live away.”

Apart from family commitments, Sue is also determined to spend more time in her garden.

“I won’t need to rush as much. I also like walking and I will be able to meet up with former colleagues and friends who retired ahead of me who go further afield on walking trips.

“I am also thinking of taking up swimming again – it all helps to keep active.

“I would just like to say a thank you to partners past and present. They have provided safe and secure employment and always been fair and reasonable.

“It has been much appreciated.”

Senior partner Ian Pounder, who’s also stepping down from his role and taking semi retirement, thanked Sue.

“Sue’s been a loyal, hard-working employee whose contribution to the business has been much valued by partners and her colleagues,” Mr Pounder said.

“She will be missed and we wish her a deserved, long and happy retirement.”
